LifeLeague has launched the Engage To Change Campaign which is basically the strategy of engaging with people who are otherwise ignored or marginalised because of their perceived extreme views.
Whether they are extreme far left or extreme far right politically, or whether they come from the liberal camp of Christianity, Catholic or Protestant, or from the more extreme fundamentalist viewpoint is of no consequence.
This strategy was decided on to counteract the damaging effect on the pro-life movement that years of self-imposed isolation and pre-conceived views which so many in the pro-life camp held. We believe our position even in a morally bankrupt modern world is gaining more and more acceptance and is the correct way to think - therefore the pro-life movement need not be afraid to engage with everybody and anybody who has a desire or the courtesy to listen.
The purpose has been to gather information to allow our supporter base to make an informed decision regarding how they will cast their vote in the forthcoming elections. This will be disseminated via our e-news subscriber base, as well as our magazine Rescue. The Lifeleague works hard to save baby's lives, regardless of class, colour or creed. We are governed by the principle that all men are made in the image and likeness of God, skin pigmentation, religion or nationality are not considerations of ours.
The LifeLeague also prides itself on having no political affiliation. Indeed, this has been the key to our success in the last few years. However, it is our moral duty to engage with anyone who will listen in order to promote our pro-life agenda. This policy over the years has seen us speaking to many political parties and organisations from all spectrums of political opinion. It is not an option for the LifeLeague to exclude anyone in our quest to promote an absolute respect for life .
We have endeavoured to meet with everybody ranging from Sinn Fein, UKIP, Socialist Party, Greens, BNP, Respect Party and others.
It’s easy to deal with nice rational people representing nice rational parties, but we must, like Christ, be willing to sit with the tax collectors and sinners. This is a real test of faith for all of us. In order to influence someone’s opinions we must first treat them as human beings and not be guilty of displaying the bigotry we would accuse them of.
Some of the groups we have met have indeed, despite our good intentions, attempted to pull the wool over our eyes.
Being pro-life, however, is a simple thing - you are either for child-killing or you’re not. A full report on our findings will appear soon in our publications.
